United Way Greater Toronto aims to raise $100 million for 10 new community hubs, addressing the impact of rising commercial rents on essential services.
"We're worried about people getting displaced with rents going up, but we're also worried about the services that they need being displaced," Crammond said.
Crammond pointed out that 70% of essential community service spaces in Peel, Toronto, and York are leased, making them vulnerable to the real estate market.
The costs to maintain a physical location for community agencies have risen by 57% over the last decade, intensifying the need for stable support.
