"The supermoon looks most impressive at moonrise, which will happen around sunset," according to the Museum of Science in Boston.
When supermoons appear in the sky, the moon looks slightly larger and brighter than a typical full moon, approximately 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than a micromoon.
Full moons in November are known as beaver moons. Although the origins of the beaver nickname are unclear, it may have stuck because mid-fall is when hunters set beaver traps.
The moon will appear full starting a few hours before sunrise Thursday until a few hours before sunrise Sunday, according to Gordon Johnston.
