The German town that's encrusted in 72,000 tonnes of DIAMONDS
Briefly

The jewels were created by an asteroid 15million years ago, making Nördlingen unique with around 72,000 tonnes of diamonds visible in buildings.
US geologists Eugene Shoemaker and Edward Chao discovered the diamond-embedded walls, unveiling the impact theory of the Nördlinger Ries crater in the 1960s.
Nördlingen's circular shape, often mistaken for a volcanic origin, was confirmed to be from the asteroid collision that created the 26km-wide Nördlinger Ries crater.
