Simple saline drops shown to cut common cold by DAYS in children
Briefly

Researchers found that simple saline nasal drops can shorten the duration of the common cold in children by two days, effectively reducing illness duration.
In a study of 407 children, those treated with saline drops experienced cold symptoms for six days, while the control group faced eight days of illness.
The research indicates that using saline nasal drops also reduces the risk of transmission within families, with only 46% of family members catching the cold compared to 61%.
Professor Steve Cunningham noted that chloride found in salt helps the body's cells to produce hypochlorous acid, enhancing their ability to fight viral infections.
