The seismic vibrations caused by the Greenland landslide and mega-tsunami were unprecedented, revealing the enormous impact of climate change and how it can alter global dynamics.
"Had I suggested a year ago that a seiche could persist for nine days, people would shake their heads and say that's impossible," said lead author Kristian Svennevig.
This mega-tsunami produced waves over 650 feet tall, capable of overwhelming skyscrapers, and its seismic effects were felt worldwide, highlighting the consequences of climate change.
The study confirmed that the oscillating wave phenomenon—now recognized to last for nine days—was something scientists had previously deemed impossible.
