Researchers from the University of New South Wales have revealed that the black balls found on Australian beaches are actually a mix of sewage, fats, and drugs.
Chemical analysis of the balls shows traces of veterinary medicine, steroids, THC, and methamphetamine, indicating a significant amount of human faeces.
Associate Professor Jonathan Beves stated, 'Our analyses show that the material is not natural and cannot be attributed solely to an oil spill.'
Originally thought to be toxic tar balls, the investigation revealed that these orbs are remnants of a 'fatberg' typically found in city sewers.
