In their survey of 353 Alberta field crop producers, they found that there was quite a bit of variation in awareness of particular species. While some, like lady beetles, were more well-known, producers were not as aware of beneficials such as parasitoid wasps.
From how many farmers are using economic thresholds in their decisions to spray, to what pests farmers are seeing on the ground, this new data is really unique and could be used to increase awareness of the many species of beneficial insects that are helping crops prosper.
