Nightmarish 'black demon' fish seen in daylight for first time EVER
Briefly

Scientists have observed the black demon fish (Melanocetus johnsonii) in broad daylight for the first time, off the coast of Tenerife. Usually dwelling at depths of 200 to 2000 meters, this species is known for its striking appearance, featuring a large mouth with fangs and a dark body. David Jara Boguna shared footage of the sighting on social media, which has generated significant attention. This sighting is noted as a rare privilege for researchers and highlights the fish's predatory nature, as it uses bioluminescent bacteria to lure prey.
This could be the first recorded sighting in the world of a black demon or adult abyssal (Melanocetus johnsonii) alive, in broad daylight and on the surface!!
It is a true predator of the depths, which lives in the seabed between 200 and 2000m deep.
[It] uses its dorsal appendix filled with symbiotic bioluminescent bacteria as bait to lure its prey, in the same way as in the popular movie Finding Nemo.
