NASA is ending the NEOWISE mission as the spacecraft is sinking low enough in Earth's upper atmosphere to burn in a few months, concluding its asteroid-hunting survey by July 31.
Edward Wright, principal investigator for the WISE mission, states he doesn't see the telescope's retirement as a significant loss, acknowledging its successful run despite the atmospheric challenges.
