NASA probe to become closest human-made object to the sun
Briefly

"No human-made object has ever passed this close to a star, so Parker will truly be returning data from uncharted territory," said Nick Pinkine, mission operations manager.
As the Parker Solar Probe reaches its closest point, it will become the fastest human-made object ever made, reaching 430,000 mph (692,000 kph).
This Christmas Eve, the Parker Solar Probe will pass within just 3.8 million miles of the sun's surface, touching the star's super-hot outer atmosphere.
Launched in August 2018, the Parker Solar Probe has been on a 93 million-mile journey designed to gather data about the sun's corona.
