Andrew Cowell transformed a small hobby farm into a licensed zoo and conservation project. It began with rescuing pigs that led him to create a sanctuary for various animals.
Andrew explained that the idea of a zoo emerged after his wife humorously noted that they had turned their home into a zoo, sparking further exploration into developing a formal rescue initiative.
Faced with the idea of establishing a zoo, he found a run-down pub with land and proposed to the owners his vision, which they reluctantly accepted, turning his dream into reality.
The Fenn Bell Zoo now attracts over 60,000 visitors each year, successfully combining pub culture with animal conservation, which was never part of Cowell's original plan.
