Many of Moo Deng's fans flew miles to see her. Among them was Molly Swindall, who traveled from New York for the celebrations. She was seen handing a tray of food to a zoo keeper for Moo Deng's breakfast, which the baby hippo and her mother Jona quickly devoured.

The attack took place in a holding enclosure, an area designated for trained staff only, just after cleaning of the main enclosure was completed.

The SFPD is rolling out a DUI checkpoint on Saturday night between 7pm July 5th, 2025, and 3 am July 6, somewhere in SF city limits.

None of the animals here have been bought. They've all been saved from difficult situations, whether from other zoos or private owners who could no longer care for them.
