Moo Deng, the baby pygmy hippo, celebrated her first birthday at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand. The event attracted thousands, with 12,000 visitors by afternoon. Fans traveled from far and wide, like Molly Swindall from New York, who expressed her affection for Moo Deng. Visitors enjoyed various activities and took pictures as her birthday cake was presented. The festivities spanned four days, and children under 12 entered for free, highlighting the zoo's efforts to celebrate Moo Deng's special day.
Many of Moo Deng's fans flew miles to see her. Among them was Molly Swindall, who traveled from New York for the celebrations. She was seen handing a tray of food to a zoo keeper for Moo Deng's breakfast, which the baby hippo and her mother Jona quickly devoured.
Zoo director Narongwit Chodchoy stated that by Thursday afternoon, the number of visitors reached 12,000, with Moo Deng appearing peaceful as she took a dip in a pond despite the noise of visitors calling out for her attention.
'Moo Deng is my happy pill, and she's my energy pill, my curing pill. She's my vitamin!' said Thea Chavez, who flew in from Houston, Texas.
Jennifer Tang, a fan from Malaysia, leaned over the enclosure to take pictures and shared, 'She makes me happy. Whenever I'm stressed at work I pull up photos of her.'
