An infusion of federal funds will allow Green-Wood Cemetery to plant 1,500 new trees and care for 140 mature trees to expand canopy cover to 35 percent.
Existing trees capture over 200 tons of carbon, remove 8,000 pounds of ozone, filter 2,000 pounds of particulate matter yearly, and help with stormwater run-off, benefiting surrounding neighborhoods.
