For a person to get to outer space, they need to be in some sort of spacecraft attached to a rocket. The rocket shoots out exhaust when it leaves the launch pad, following Isaac Newton's third law of motion creating an upward force for the rocket to ascend.
Rockets must go fast to overcome Earth's spacetime curvature. Earth's mass makes spacetime bend in a funnel-like shape, requiring immense speed to escape gravity, explained by gravitational force or 'g-force'.
