The European Space Agency (ESA) recently inaugurated the SpaceHPC, a cutting-edge supercomputing facility in Frascati, Italy. Built with HPE technology, this facility features advanced computing resources, including 34,000 processor cores and 108 Nvidia H100 GPUs, delivering 5 petaflops of performance. Designed to improve risk mitigation in space data processing, simulations, and modeling, SpaceHPC plays a critical role in enhancing space weather predictions. While currently in its pilot phase, the ESA aims to expand access and optimize performance for users. Additionally, the facility is already being utilized to advance the ESA's Space Safety Programme.
