Emergency plan drawn up for water to be imported from Norway in case of drought
Briefly

Southern Water's contingency plan includes potentially shipping 45 million litres of water per day from Norway in the event of an extreme drought emergency.
Tim McMahon emphasized that the decision to ship water would be a last resort, only in extreme circumstances surpassing the severity of the 1976 drought.
The company aims to balance the water supply while considering population growth and climate change, employing measures to reduce leakage and construct new reservoirs.
Southern Water's plans also include utilizing temporary desalination plants and enhancing water-saving measures before considering international water imports.
