Residents have raised concerns about the local environmental impacts of its energy requirements-up to 150 megawatts, or enough to power around 100,000 homes-in a county where climate vulnerability is extremely high.
Ted Townsend stated, "I'm excited for all Memphians to have this identity where we are leading the artificial intelligence space," highlighting the transformative potential of xAI's investment.
Townsend has referred to the xAI project as the "largest multibillion-dollar investment in the city of Memphis's history," showcasing the economic significance to the region.
