During the US Coast Guard hearing, Boeing engineer Mark Negley stated that Boeing's involvement with OceanGate was limited and largely ignored, leading to safety issues.
Negley revealed that OceanGate disregarded Boeing's recommendations concerning hull thickness and reinforcement, ultimately opting for a thinner and less reinforced structure that led to disaster.
Stockton Rush, OceanGate's former CEO, claimed ties to Boeing while downplaying their limited involvement and even selling expired carbon fiber from the manufacturer.
Boeing emphasized that although they briefly consulted OceanGate, they did not manufacture parts or conduct materials testing for the Titan submersible.
