A gas giant exoplanet, dubbed TIC2, is on a peculiar, twisted orbit that resembles the path of a potential hot Jupiter, providing insights into the formation of such planets.
"We definitely caught it in the act," says astrophysicist Suvrath Mahadevan, highlighting the rare opportunity to observe an exoplanet in the midst of transforming into a hot Jupiter.
