A rare blue supermoon will soon shine over California. What is it - and when can I see it?
Briefly

August's supermoon is the first of four that will appear over California in coming months, with the next supermoons on Sept. 17, Oct. 17 and Nov. 15.
A blue supermoon is both a supermoon and a blue moon. This occurs when a full moon is within 90% of its closest approach to Earth.
The upcoming supermoon will appear full for three days, from Sunday morning to early Wednesday morning, providing excellent viewing conditions across California.
A blue moon, which is the third full moon in a season with four, has no effect on the moon's actual color.
