Longtime Yankees announcer John Sterling could retire on Friday
Briefly

There is an expectation among Yankees and WFAN officials that he will retire because of health concerns, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation.
The ball is entirely in Sterling's court, and per Joel Sherman, it does sound like this is the end of Sterling in the booth.
He's a fondly-recalled uncle of sorts to a generation, and baseball in the Bronx won't be the same without the calls of 'It is high! It is far! It is gone!' and 'Yankees win!'
Here's hoping that Yankee Stadium at least gets one more chance to say farewell itself to John Sterling. And if this is the end, then we wish him nothing but the best in retirement.
