While there hasn't been any more information revealed as to what prompted the team to make this move, per Vince Mercogliano, it can be assumed one of the Rangers' defenders is banged up and the team is playing it safe.
While Robertson is getting the chance to practice with his NHL squad, it's unlikely he'll slot in to see some actual ice time as the team has had Zac Jones waiting in the wings for these types of scenarios.
