Rangers manager Phillipe Clement expressed disappointment following a dismal Scottish Cup exit, emphasizing that recent performances had restored fan trust, now lost. Despite a series of victories, the team faltered against their lower-tier rivals with a missed penalty that followed a critical goal for the opposition. Clement acknowledged the players' emotions but criticized the lack of composure during the match. With the team significantly trailing Celtic in the league, winning the Europa League becomes crucial to avoid a trophy-less season. Nonetheless, Clement remains optimistic about the team's future and consistency in performance.
"They built back credit with the fans in the last weeks and months. Today, they lost everything," Clement said. "They are right to be angry. I'm angry. It's unacceptable and the players know that."
"Results like this are frustrating, but the only way for this club to build something is to keep consistency," the Belgian said. "I won’t take conclusions from all season from one moment. We wanted it too much and because of that there was no composure."
