The New York Mets landed veteran outfielder Jose Siri in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, surrendering reliever Eric Orze in the deal.
Siri, 29, tied for the lead among all center fielders in Defensive Runs Saved last season but struggled offensively, batting .187 with 18 homers.
Siri's meandering path to the big leagues included bouncing through five organizations, and he made his debut with the Astros in September 2021.
With Harrison Bader becoming a free agent, Siri provides the Mets coverage at the center field position as they navigate offseason changes.
