Brandon Nimmo is feeling hopeful about being ready for Opening Day on March 27 in Houston, despite acknowledging that his right knee needs improvement. Following a gel injection, Nimmo participated in running drills, hitting, and minor league at-bats for the first time in spring training. He expressed optimism about his condition but remained cautious, stating that progress would determine his availability. His knee has no structural damage, although he still experiences discomfort, and he is committed to doing what it takes to get back on the field.
"I definitely think I'll be good for Opening Day," Nimmo told The Post after finishing his at-bats versus Astros minor leaguers.
"But we'll see. I don't know the future. If we go backwards, it can go in another direction, but I do feel good for Opening Day right now."
