Marvel has postponed the release dates for the new Avengers films, Doomsday and Secret Wars, emphasizing the need for additional practice for the new team. Doomsday's release has been shifted from May 1, 2026, to December 18, while Secret Wars moves from May 7, 2027, to December 17. These films will be directed by the Russo Brothers and feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Disney also updated its project titles, indicating a shift in planning. There will now be a significant gap in Marvel releases between key films.
The New Avengers just need a little more practice before they lead a whole 'nother mission.
Doomsday was originally going to be released on May 1, 2026, and, with less than a year until that release date, it was moved to December 18.
Disney changed the titles of multiple upcoming films on its calendar from "Untitled Marvel project" to "Untitled Disney project."
That leaves a yearlong gap between The Fantastic 4: First Steps and Brand New Day, the longest break in Marvel movies since COVID.
