NBA: Knicks name Jalen Brunson 36th team captain in franchise history, first since 2018
Briefly

The New York Knicks have a deep and storied history and today we are immensely proud to add to that lineage by naming Jalen Brunson as our captain. Jalen is a natural born leader, and I am confident he will continue to represent our organization, fans, city and his teammates with the same heart, grit and class that he has displayed each and every day since he came to New York.
Brunson helped crystallize the Knicks' championship aspirations by taking a pay cut this offseason, signing a four-year, $156.5 million extension to avoid salary cap issues from a potential super max contract in 2025. He led the Knicks to the Eastern Conference's No. 2 seed in a season where injuries plagued the team, earning an All-Star nod and All-NBA Second Team honors.
