August P&T mailbag: Julius Randle at the 5, relative greatness & current ceilings
Briefly

The bad news for the Randle-at-the-5 enthusiasts is Thibs has never shown the slightest interest in the idea, in good times or bad. Jericho Sims played more center last season than Randle has in all of his years with Thibs. And the way last season ended around the Association, I don't think the idea of a 6-foot-9 non-shot blocker centering his defense is growing on him any.
Consider the champions and runners-up of last season who heavily relied on shot-blocking centers. This trend is seen in other successful teams, indicating a preference for bigger centers in the league.
