Did you know the NBA started measuring pace in the 1950-51 season? And that for 13 of the first 14 seasons they did, the Knicks played faster than the league average? In 60 seasons since, New York's only been faster 10 times! That means since Lyndon B. Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater, the Knicks have been slower than average 90% of the time!!
Doesn't that seem wrong? That the Mecca, the city of point guards, is apparently the basketball sleepwalking capital of the world? I have so many questions for you! How does it feel seeing your team back in business? Are you nervous to let yourself love freely again?
Desmond Novack recently wrote about Leon Rose's management approach versus Phil Jackson's. Did Rose's player-focused background give him an advantage as team president, compared to Phil's coaching experience? Or is Rose's success more coincidental?
