A.Q. Shipley, who started his career with the Steelers after being drafted in 2009, has taken on the role of radio analyst for the Arizona Cardinals. He grew up influenced by Myron Cope's voice and has experience in media, having worked on a podcast and guest appearances on shows. Shipley expressed excitement about the opportunity to fill the role left by Ron Wolfley, who stepped down after 20 years. He will work alongside seasoned play-by-play commentator Dave Pasch for the upcoming season.
"I kind of grew up with Myron Cope's voice echoing my ears in Pittsburgh. And, as a kid, that's kind of all I remember. And, so for me to get here and have this opportunity is an awesome opportunity."
"I mean that voice is unduplicatable, if that's even a word. The growl, the sound. It's so recognizable in this city. And, so for me, not even going to try and do that."
