"There were no passengers on the bus, and the residents of the building were not injured,"
"Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda, a 26-year-old man, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn by EMS for minor injuries. The MTA bus driver was not hurt."
"If the Stop Super Speeders bill had already passed, this crash never would have happened,"
"Until the State Assembly passes the bill, more crashes like this will undoubtedly occur."
A driver struck an MTA bus around 1:30 a.m., sending the bus into a building; no passengers or residents were injured and only minor injuries were reported. Transportation Alternatives identified the driver as a repeat super-speeder with 16 speed-camera tickets and one red-light camera ticket in 12 months. The driver was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn; the bus driver was unhurt. Advocates urged passage of a bill requiring speed-limiter technology for the worst offenders. The Stop Super Speeders bill failed in the Legislature last year amid opposition from anti-safety interests, and advocates warned more crashes will occur until the Assembly acts.
