Trial begins for couple accused of inflicting more than 30 serious injuries on young child

The jury learned that a very young child was admitted with severe injuries including a fractured skull and multiple broken bones, which raised grave concerns.

Prosecuting barrister Toby Hedworth KC emphasized the child's injuries were indicative of serious and repeated blunt force trauma, suggesting the involvement of both defendants in the abuse.

Trial Judge Peter Irvine KC cautioned the jury to approach the case objectively, rejecting any emotional biases, in light of the serious child cruelty charges.
