Nine Long Islanders were arraigned in court for their involvement in the kidnapping and abuse of a 14-year-old girl, Emmarae Gervasi. Alton Harrell, identified as the main perpetrator, is charged with kidnapping and multiple counts of rape. He allegedly had a sexual relationship with the teen starting in 2024. The other defendants face similar charges. The young girl was missing for 25 days, during which she suffered horrific abuse including drugging and sexual assault. The case has drawn significant attention due to its shocking nature.
Harrell, who prosecutors say had a sexual relationship with the teen going back to 2024, is charged with kidnapping and rape and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
This defendant set the entire chain of events that followed in motion by victimizing someone he knew as a child, said Assistant Suffolk County District Attorney Dana Castaldo.
The two face the same charges as Harrell.
Buckheit was identified as the owner of the boat where Gervasi was eventually rescued from by her father, Frank.
