Super exciting' visit of dolphins to East River offers hope of cleaner New York

The sighting of two common short-beaked dolphins in New York City’s East River earlier this month is notable as these dolphins are rarely seen in inner waterways. According to Chris St Lawrence from Gotham Whale, it’s extremely rare to see common short-beaked dolphins in New York City's inner waterways, which makes this sighting particularly exciting.
Maxine Montello noted that the dolphins spotted were likely foraging for fish, emphasizing that there are definitely fish resources in the East River.
