Staten Island Man Arrested for Hit-and-Run Accident That Killed 75-Year-Old Brooklyn Woman
Briefly

The NYPD responded to a 911 call, only to find Yelena Gervolskaya unconscious and unresponsive on the scene. Despite the quick arrival of emergency services, Gervolskaya was pronounced dead due to severe head and body trauma. The investigation by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad revealed that two vehicles were involved in the incident. The first, a 2017 Mack Dump Truck driven by a 38-year-old man, was heading west on Shore Parkway and made a left turn onto Shell Road, striking Gervolskaya as she crossed the street.
Shockingly, a second vehicle, a 2021 black Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 40-year-old woman, also made the same left turn and ran over the pedestrian. Neither driver remained at the scene, leaving Gervolskaya without help in her final moments. After a thorough investigation, Frankie Rodriguez, a 39-year-old male from Staten Island, was arrested in connection with the incident. He faces serious charges, including leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
