Lt. Henry Schmiemann was shot and killed in the line of duty 50 years ago; his family, officials, and NYPD gathered for a street co-naming ceremony in his honor.
Councilman Robert Holden was instrumental in passing the legislation to honor Lt. Schmiemann; his grandson, also a NYPD officer, continues his legacy.
