Remains of Irishman found dead in police cell in Portugal repatriated

Ryan Chan, a 29-year-old restaurant worker from Letterkenny, was found dead in his cell in Portugal after being arrested in connection with an alleged attack on his partner.
The investigation into Mr. Chan's death is being conducted by Portugal's military police, the National Republican Guard, amidst concerns surrounding the circumstances of his death.
His remains have been returned to Ireland by the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust ahead of his funeral, which is set for Monday morning.
Mr. Chan’s death notice expressed deep sorrow from his family, including his partner Megan and their children, along with other relatives and friends.
