Queens stabbing: Man turns himself into cops for attacking woman at bus stop | amNewYork
"According to authorities, 18-year-old Luis Emmanuel Valencia Ponce of East Elmhurst gave himself up to cops at the 115th Precinct less than a day after the NYPD released clear surveillance images of the perpetrator. He has been slapped with attempted murder and assault charges."
"Cops say he walked behind the woman mere blocks from his home on 23rd Avenue and 94th Street at around 6:15 a.m on March 16. Police said the suspect began stabbing her in the back and hand on the sidewalk. Sources say he did not say a word, and they did not know one another."
"At the moment she was attacked, she never, never, felt anything at her back; she didn't sense anyone coming up behind her, it happened suddenly, he just appeared and stabbed her, the victim's husband told ABC7."
Luis Emmanuel Valencia Ponce, 18, surrendered to the 115th Precinct early Thursday morning, less than a day after the NYPD released surveillance images identifying him as the perpetrator of an unprovoked stabbing attack. On March 16 at approximately 6:15 a.m., Ponce attacked a 29-year-old mother of three near 23rd Avenue and 94th Street in East Elmhurst, stabbing her in the back and hand without warning or apparent motive. The victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital where she remained in stable condition. Ponce faces attempted murder and assault charges. Police believe the release of surveillance video showing him dressed in black prompted his decision to turn himself in.
