Plan to Build Thousands of Apartments Will Transform the East Bronx
Briefly

The New York City Council unanimously approved a transformative rezoning plan that aims to replace industrial areas with approximately 7,000 new apartments in the Bronx.
This effort is pivotal for the Bronx, the poorest borough in New York City, which has seen less large-scale development compared to Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens.
Mayor Eric Adams emphasized the importance of this project, stating, 'The Bronx is saying yes to more housing... and serving as a model to the rest of our city on how to lead from the front.'
The plan represents the first neighborhood rezoning under Mayor Adams and builds upon efforts initiated in 2018 under his predecessor, Mayor Bill de Blasio.
