Jose Lopez, a 37-year-old inmate with a lengthy criminal history, escaped from police custody minutes after being arraigned in a Bronx hospital.
Lopez, who has faced 16 arrests since 2008, was charged with multiple offenses including possession of drugs and reckless endangerment.
After his escape from NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, police and K-9 units searched the area but remained unsure of how he got away.
Authorities are seeking information on Lopez's whereabouts, urging the public to contact NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline as the manhunt continues.
