Neglected NYC boy, 4, suffered in feces-streaked NYC apartment where food was locked away, prosecutors reveal as dad is jailed

Assistant District Attorney Heather Buchanan detailed the disturbing conditions, stating, 'There were sealed cabinets filled with food, and a refrigerator turned to the wall, inaccessible to children.'

Buchanan stated, 'The child’s hair also was thinning, a distinct sign of malnutrition,' highlighting the severe neglect leading to the boy's death.

Describing the state of the home, Buchanan said, 'A back bedroom was covered in human feces, and smear marks on the walls were consistent with being made by children.'

Prosecutor Buchanan added, 'The child had muscle wasting and no fat on his body,' demonstrating the prolonged deprivation experienced by Jahmeik.
