A Montauk fisherman, Chris Winkler, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for overfishing fluke and black sea bass, falsifying records, and selling illegal catch to area markets.
Judge Azrack called the trial illuminating and disturbing, stating that Mr. Winkler undermined the integrity of fisheries management program, expressing serious concerns over the crime.
