Early Monday morning, police in Midtown reported a bloody argument at the 50th Street subway station, leading to a suspect slashing a rival in the neck.
The violent episode occurred at about 1:21 a.m., seemingly ignited by an unidentified disagreement between the 48-year-old victim and the attacker on the Uptown-bound platform.
Despite the slashing incident, NYPD data indicates a 6.1% decrease in transit crime this year, with an average of six reported crimes daily.
Authorities apprehended the suspect just one stop north, at 59th Street-Columbus Circle; both he and the victim were subsequently treated for injuries.
