Police responded to an assault report and found the oldest victim dead with stab wounds identified as Fayzieva Mavlyuda, 56, the grandmother of the two youngest victims.
Three other victims; Maftuna Khakimova, 27, and her children Kamila Shavkatova, 5, and Timur Shavkatov, 4 were found dead in the Bensonhurst apartment.
NYPD did not reveal the injuries of the other victims but mentioned that they all had the same address.
The man in custody, aged 24, was being investigated but not yet arrested; details about the attacker and the relation to the family were not disclosed.
