A man was fatally struck by a subway train in the Bronx early Tuesday morning, police said. The victim was on the tracks as the northbound D train arrived.
The train operator used the emergency brakes but was unable to stop the train, which struck the man. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Authorities said they are withholding the man's name pending family notification. It remains unclear how he got onto the tracks.
Officials stated that B and D trains experienced delays in both directions after the incident, and the investigation by police is ongoing.
