'It goes off all the time': Is this Staten Island speed camera effective in slowing drivers?
Briefly

The speed camera at Clove Road and Niagara Street has issued 6,294 tickets, generating approximately $315,000 from March to May. Residents report that despite the camera's frequent operation, speeding remains a significant issue. During a recent speed check, more than half of the 40 vehicles recorded exceeded 30 MPH. The average speed was 30.1 MPH, while four vehicles were clocked above the threshold for potential ticketing. Operational since last summer, the camera has quickly gained a reputation for high ticket issuance.
Between March and May alone, the speed camera issued 6,294 tickets and generated around $315,000 in fines.
More than half the drivers were clocked over 30 MPH, with the average speed recorded at 30.1 MPH.
Oh yeah I see the camera here going off a lot. I guess people don't know about it, but it goes off all the time.
I still think there is a bad speeding problem, but I don't think the camera helped.
