Established in 2021, the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative grants help US organizations in enhancing their facilities to be more energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable.
The grants include Catalyst Grants for early-stage climate change projects ($15,000), Scoping Grants for identifying clean-energy needs ($25,000), Technical Assistance Grants for complex projects ($50,000), and Implementation Grants for large-scale infrastructure changes ($100,000).
Recipients include Seattle Art Museum, California College of the Arts, MacDowell, Center for Photography at Woodstock, and Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, working on various energy-saving and carbon-neutral initiatives.
Elizabeth Smith, executive director of the Frankenthaler Foundation, highlighted the impact of FCI grants in driving ambitious climate-focused projects within the visual arts sector, aligning with Helen Frankenthaler's legacy.
