Grainne Seoige set to become Fianna Fail general election candidate after three others withdraw from the race

With three candidates withdrawing, Ms Seoige and John Connolly remain as Fianna Fáil's only nominees for Galway West, aiming for a two-candidate strategy.

John Connolly expressed his ambition, saying, 'I have a lot of hunger for this at the moment,' and aims to broaden his campaign's reach.

Eamon Ó Cuív noted that although Ms Seoige has significant name recognition for her media background, gender and geography will influence the final candidate selection.
