The police indicated that there was a suspect who turned himself in after the explosion, while a second suspect remains at large, highlighting ongoing tensions.
Michael Esser, the head of Cologne's criminal investigation department, emphasized the current wave of violence, remarking that 'there are unpaid bills in the milieu that are still being settled'.
Thankfully, no lives were lost in the blast, but it did prompt the evacuation of about 20 residents and left two needing treatment for smoke inhalation.
